Class 5

Since last class, I finished modeling the door frame, door, door knob, and the door hinges. I also did my first attempt at a comp for the first door shot. I removed the green screen and put Donnie over the background of his room (NY). I then brought that into the beach scene along with first render of the door (no lighting or texturing has been done yet). All the other doors in this video are .obj files brought from Houdini into Nuke.

I didn't get to complete as much as I wanted over the past couple days due to a lot of time being spent on troubleshooting. I didn't realize until Saturday that all of my shots were coming out of Premiere Pro 2022 overexposed (example below). I tried opening the file in Premiere Pro 2021, but it wouldn't allow it since it was created and saved in a later version. I am now working in 2021 again so these shots that I submit for class 5 are not overexposed. By class 6 I plan to have the whole video re-edited in 2021 with a beginning and ending credits.

Moving forward, I would like to have the setting inside the door be 3D so that there is parallax as the camera moves back. Right now it seems really flat to me. I may even start closer to the door so the camera moves out of it. I'm going to test how this looks coming out of Houdini vs doing the camera projection in Nuke. I also want to have more footage playing during the end credits so it doesn't just stop abruptly.
